Working as a childminder is a very rewarding career but it also comes with many responsibilities, especially in respect of Ofsted and complying with their Framework. (Note: This course uses England's EYFS Framework. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have their own versions). By taking this course you will be able to demonstrate to OfSted that you are taking seriously the training requirements of the framework. Candidates will undertake an online multiple-choice assessment and will receive a certificate if successful (any certificates from an official awarding body are sent to you via email).

Module 1: Early Years Childcare for Childminders
  • Course Introduction

    In our introduction, we cover the overall structure of the course and detail the contents of each module.

  • The Role of the Regulator and Your Responsibilities

    This unit introduces the regulator and the Early Years framework that childminders are expected to adhere to. It also provides a step-by-step guide on what you need to do to become a registered childminder.

  • The EYFS Statutory Framework

    Understanding the EYFS Statutory Framework is central to meeting the requirements of the regulator. This unit also offers insight into how children learn and how their progress is assessed within The Framework.

  • Safeguarding, Welfare and Inspections

    The safeguarding and welfare of Early Years children are of vital importance to both the regulator and practitioners. In this unit, we cover safeguarding in detail and explain how regulatory inspections work and what their results mean for you.

Obtaining your certificate

You will need to pass a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course in order to gain your accreditation. Once passed, we will send your official certificate by email.
