Module 1: Prevent Duty

This unit provides an introduction to the Prevent Duty course, outlining the overall structure and explaining how the following units cover the key topics related to the Prevent strategy and its practical application.
- An Introduction to the Prevent Duty
We begin the course by explaining what the Prevent Duty is under UK law. This unit explores Prevent guidance, compliance requirements, the broader Prevent strategy, and provides context about terrorist groups and the nature of the threat of terrorism in the UK.
- Understanding Radicalisation
In this unit, we examine key concepts such as terrorism, extremism, extremist ideologies, radicalisation, and vulnerability. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how the internet and social media can influence radicalisation, the signs to watch for, and how to assess potential concerns.
- Prevent Duty in Action
In the final unit, we focus on putting the Prevent Duty into practice. This includes how to seek advice and support, the role of Channel in the Prevent strategy, and the process of making referrals for vulnerable individuals. The unit concludes with guidance on information sharing and a series of case studies to reinforce learning.
Obtaining your certificate
You will need to pass a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course in order to gain your accreditation. Once passed, we will send your official certificate by email.
