Our Safe Internet Usage course provides vital information on the issues and risks children and young people face when using the internet. Topics covered include online pornography, misinformation and disinformation, internet fraud and phishing, setting parental controls, and online gaming.

The course provides an insight into safe internet usage in bite-sized modules. Candidates will undertake an online multiple-choice assessment and will receive a certificate if successful (any certificates from an official awarding body are sent to you via email).

    We begin the course by defining the term 'online safety' and exploring various types and scales of internet use, particularly among children. This unit also covers common online risks and the specific challenges faced by educational professionals.

  • The Dangers of Unsafe Internet Usage

    This unit examines harmful online content such as pornography, misinformation, and cyberbullying. It also explores the dangers associated with online challenges, gaming risks, and internet fraud, helping learners understand how to identify and mitigate these threats.

  • Preventing Unsafe Internet Usage

    Here, we focus on prevention strategies, including setting parental controls, monitoring online activity, building digital resilience in children, and preventing online sexual abuse through early identification and support mechanisms.

  • Encouraging Safe Internet Usage

    The final unit discusses how to foster positive digital habits and safe internet use through family and school-based agreements. It also explores approaches to combat misinformation, handle online challenges, address online pornography and sexting, and prevent online fraud.

Obtaining your certificate

You will need to pass a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course in order to gain your accreditation. Once passed, we will send your official certificate by email.
